The Authority is excited to announce the release of the upgraded GIS Internet Mapping Application (IMA)! This new version is more user-friendly and intuitive, offers the same functionality, and includes new tools and features. The IMA is also now available on mobile devices like smart phones and tablets.
The “Launch DANC GIS Application” button on the top of the Authority website (www.danc.org) will direct users to the upgraded IMA. The log-in screen is similar to the original, where users may choose to enter the IMA through Public portals, Customer portals, or Authority Division portals.
Users will notice that the map is now on the right side of the screen, and all of the tools and data layers are neatly stacked and organized on the left side of the screen. All of the data layers, including water/sewer/storm infrastructure and parcels, are turned off by default. Users may now click on the “Map Layers” bar in the bottom left corner and choose which layers they want to see in the map. Tools such as Measure, Draw, Search, Locate, and Print Map can be found on the left side either by clicking the shortcut buttons in the vertical tool bar or clicking the “Tools” tab. As in the original IMA, clicking on features in the map will show more details about that feature. Click on the “Help” button in the IMA for a tutorial.
Two new exciting tools are Google Street View and Microsoft Birdseye View. These tools are in the vertical tool bar next to the map. Click on one of these tools and then click on the area of interest in the map, and a new window will open within the map – giving users a whole new perspective!
This new version of the IMA will be in beta mode for another month, as GIS staff add more functions and make sure everything is running smoothly while transitioning to this upgraded version. The original IMA will still be available during this time, and may be accessed by clicking on the “Retro IMA” link in the Useful Links section of the Authority website: www.danc.org.
Training sessions for the upgraded IMA will be offered in each County and are detailed below. Seating at these sessions is limited to 75 people, so GIS staff ask that anyone interested in attending please RSVP to email@example.com by July 10 at 2:00 pm.
