YOUR INPUT MATTERS!

You are invited to the final public open house regarding compatibility planning around Fort Drum.

For the past year, the Development Authority of the North Country, in cooperation with Jefferson, Lewis, and St. Lawrence counties, the communities surrounding Fort Drum, Fort Drum staff, and other agencies and organizations in the region, has been preparing a Joint Land Use Study (JLUS) to assist in reducing current and potential compatibility issues between Fort Drum and surrounding communities, while accommodating new growth and economic development, sustaining economic vitality, protecting public health and safety, and sustaining the operational missions of Fort Drum.

The Public Draft JLUS Report will be released on the Development Authority’s website (www.danc.org) November 6 for review and comment.  The Development Authority of the North Country will host the final set of public open houses for attendees to learn about the Public Draft JLUS Report and the key compatibility findings within it.  The open house will include a presentation on key compatibility issues raised and implementation strategies recommended.  Public Draft JLUS documents will also be available for review at the open houses.  Written public comments on the draft will be accepted at the open house or can be provided in writing up until the end of the comment period on November 27, 2017.  The open houses will not be recorded, so comments on the draft JLUS must be submitted in writing. Comments can be submitted through the website or also by e‑mailing them to Hartley Bonisteel Schweitzer at hschweitzer@danc.org.

There will be two open houses to provide a broader opportunity for attendance, but the format and material will be the same at both.  Please join us at the location that is most convenient to you.  The presentation will begin at 6:30 pm and the remaining time will be open house format to ask questions and provide comments.  The open houses will be held at:
